Everything

Everything

Everything. God is in everything. Any direction I look and at whatever I’m looking at, I am through God, at God. It’s easy to forget in a world of judgment and seeming duality; up vs. down, light vs. dark, good vs. bad, people like us vs. people like them. We learn this way as children and perhaps it’s necessary. I don’t know how else we could understand the world otherwise as we are developing. Behind and within all these differences, however, there is unity. I first detected it as a feeling through my experience of compassion. I was asked by a teacher once “imagine yourself standing in their shoes”. I’m so grateful for this lesson. This practice removes the perception of otherness for just a moment and allows me to embody what might make up another human life with all the complexities and nuances that go into it. There is only one thing happening and God is in everything. It is in the homeless person that found a place to rest up the street from my house. It is in the shooter as well as the victim, it is infused in this precious home I’m blessed to live in and it is in the midst of a divorcing couple. Nothing is outside the love and immensity of the Divine. God is in everything. The push against this idea is our growing edge. The intelligence of the Universe is the very fabric of life! In the midst of my, and all our pain and suffering. This awareness has brought me much comfort because I also believe that we live in a benevolent Universe that is for our Good. So, if God is all there is and It is everywhere and I live in a world that is for my good, then even the pain and suffering that I experience is somehow being used for me. May this bring you peace as it has for me.

And so it is.
