God’s Life

God’s Life

“There is one Life, that Life is God, that Life is perfect, that Life is my life now.” ~ Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind

“The strings do not vibrate until the musician picks up the instrument and begins to strum. Then music fills the air.  It reminds us that we are all called to relax in the arms of the master musician and not try to do anything on our own, but simply BE an instrument of peace.” ~James F Twyman, The Ten Symptoms of Enlightenment

In this moment, as in every moment, I pause to breathe in the remembrance of God.  I remember that this Essence, this Divine Power is all there is and that I am, in truth, living God’s life.  I forget sometimes.  I think I can have a will separate from God and that the two us are at odds.  But in reality, there is but One.  When I think I have a life apart from God, I am in illusion.  I’ve forgotten who I am.  Worse yet, I have made things unnecessarily difficult. I have placed obstacles in my way by listening to the ego rather than the Holy Spirit.  When I do this, I have returned to the place of confusion where I somehow believe that God is denying me my happiness.

A Course in Miracles tells me, “God could not will that happiness depended on what you could never have.” And so, I repeat the prayer that returns me to service:

What would You have me do?
Where would You have me go?
What would You have me say, and to whom?

                                                     ~Lesson 71, A Course in Miracles

I am here to live God’s Life.  But the good news is that God’s will for me is happiness. (“God, being Love, is also happiness.” Lesson 103) My resistance to listening to that voice for Love is denying me my happiness!

Let me surrender to the Love that is my birthright.  May you surrender to that Love as well.  For in that return to the awareness that there is but One, that we are here to help one another and Love one another — we expand Love in the world.

This holiday season, may we all remember the truth: we are living God’s Life and that Life is Love.  Teach only Love, for that is what you are.

Namaste.

Amen.
