I Welcome the Light
by Rev. Kamatara Johnson
Even though things seem dark and cold in these winter months, I remember that the days are actually getting longer now. We’re a week past winter solstice, so there is literally more and more light with us each day. The light grows and so do I.
I know that the I AM expresses Its light through me. It lights my way and may light the way for others as well. I allow the light of love and compassion to shine even more brightly as we face the end of one year with a blend of grief and joy and look forward to a new year with expectancy and cautious optimism. I step forward in faith through the darkness knowing that the love of God is always with me. We are that light for each other.
I give thanks for how we can support each other through the seeming darkness and for our capacity to remember the light and keep on going. I draw forth from the I AM when I am feeling weary or worried and replenish my faith. The sun rises again. The new year comes. We continue forth, blessed in the eternal givingness of the One Loving Source. I am grateful. I welcome the light. And so it is.
