Letting Go of Guilt
Nancy Bowers, RScP
The One is Perfect. This One Life, this Endless Love, this Unadulterated Peace is Perfect. Filled with Joy, Bathed in No-Guilt, Shameless, Unflappable, It is a Power for Good. It is the Power of Good. It is All-Powerful and All-Knowing. The Father is Grace. The Mother is Harmony. The Universe is this Force that weaves through life with Unfathomable Mercy and laughs at the silliness of Its children as we forget who and what we are.
But in this moment, right here, right now, I call us back to remembrance. I unify my awareness with the consciousness of God. I enfold that awareness into my heart where it wakes me up to the truth. The truth of me is like the Creator. The truth of me is unalterable good. The truth of who I really I am is as sinless as God; is innocent as a new born child. I can make mistakes but I can never change the Changeless. I can never separate myself from what I am a crucial part of. The truth of me is shining light and no amount of clouding that perception with errors can alter that truth. The truth of who you are is just as beautiful, as lovely as a sunset, as awe-inspiring as the stars, as clean as Purity itself. No amount of misperception can alter that irrefutable truth: you are God’s sweet child and you are loved beyond measure.
So knowing this, I dispute all your guilt. I call you back to the innocence that is you. Knowing this, I refuse to entertain any modicum of sin or shame or regret in any way, shape or form. These temporary forms cannot undo God’s truth: you are here to learn the gospel. Love is who you are. Love is who your brothers are. We are all divine expressions and forgetting that or failing to notice can never negate the truth of it. So I invite you to let go of your guilt. I invite you to embrace forgiveness. Choose love. Choose love. God remembers who you are. Won’t you honor Him by remembering it yourself?
Dear child of God, come home. Come home to the place where the balm of the Divine washes away your guilt and bathes you once again in innocence. I know you were not taught the truth, but none of that matters. For no matter what mistakes you have made, no matter what errors you have allowed to perpetuate in your life, you are at choice and are invited to choose again. Choose love, not fear. Choose innocence, not guilt. Choose to believe that not only are you sinless, but not no amount of forgetting ad choosing badly can eradicate that truth. You are as God created you. Choose to see it and you will no longer need to believe in guilt.
Then give thanks. I give thanks. I give thanks daily for the teachings that bring me home to God, that remind me that I cannot separate myself from Him no matter how often I forget who I am. I give thanks that God Himself would be lonely without me. I give thanks that God Herself would be lonely without you. We are all in this together and I give thanks for that, for brethren that call me home to God when I start to lose my way by thinking I can be something I am not.
Then I let it go. I let go of guilt. I let go of sin. I let go of shame. I let go of fear. I let go of suspicion. I let go of anything and everything that keeps the truth of the Divine from wrapping around my heart and loving me into my best self. I let go of thinking I need to rehash anything. I let go because the outcome is certain. God answered my prayer before it was spoken. God is Certain of His children. I need do nothing but accept. And I do. And So It Is. Amen.
