My Body is the Divine Body
by Rev. Kamatara Johnson
This month the Centers for Spiritual Living are focusing on the body as sacred. Certainly those familiar with the Bible have explored their body as a temple and how to best treat this flesh and bone vessel we have in this lifetime. But another frame here for the body being sacred is to connect with the Bible phrase, we are many parts; we are all one body. This captures the Oneness of the Divine expressing in the here and now while also reminding me that I am the place where God shows up. I am the heart of the Divine wherever I love, I am the hands of the Divine wherever I pitch in, I am the feet of the Divine wherever I walk, I am the ears of the Divine wherever I listen…My body is the Divine body.
So today I remember that I am a sacred vessel of the Divine. I am mindful of how I use my body to do the Divine work I am called to do today. I am the connection point where the Infinite and the finite meet in this very precious body that allows me to complete my sacred mission here on earth. I give thanks for this body and this mission, knowing that it is all Divinely guided and supported. I appreciate all that I get to experience through this magnificent body and the larger body of the Divine to which we are all connected. With deep gratitude for my body and all that the Divine can do through it, I let this prayer go into the One Mind, One Heart, One Body. And so it is.
