“Your depression is exhaustion. Like Atlas, you try to carry this world on your own shoulders. This was never my intention. Allow me to carry the world. I invented it, after all. Your only job is to walk with me as my companion and my friend. Allow me to cheer you on your way. Allow me to offer you hope and comfort. Allow me to heal your despair.” – Julia Cameron, Prayers to the Great Creator: Prayers and Declarations for a Meaningful Life

God is the Great Comforter.  Love and Peace are His Currency; Joy is Its Natural State.  There is no sorrow in the Divine; only Blessing.  Mother/Father/God is the space of Prayer.  She/He/It is the temple of Solace. There is no heartache in Spirit.  It is the Unparalleled Friend.

I am made in that likeness, that image.  It is my nature to be of comfort.  It is my nature to be a friend; to teach love at every turn, to be gentle in compassion.  I suspend all my judgment and extend a space for understand.  Though I know that ultimately we are all making up the experience we choose to have, that awareness cannot eclipse my loving heart.  I am there in the illusion.  I am the light that helps you find your way home: home to the Great Comforter; home to the Arms of Love.  For just as I am made in God’s likeness and image, so too are you, my friend; so too are you.

And so together we rest in the Comfort of God-space.  Together we enter the temple where no pain is too great to be soothed by God.  There with Spirit, Love is all there is.  There in God, Peace is all I know.  The nightmares are hushed away.  I know I can trust in God and I do.  I may not understand why things unfold as they unfold, but I know I can relax in God and be assured that all is well.  I am always loved; always cared for.  There is nothing to fear, for I can never be lost.  God Himself would never, ever forsake me, wishing me only the best of everything.  God Herself would never deny me, for her desire is to give me the world.

So I rest in comfort.  I rest knowing I don’t have to do it all myself.  I rest in knowing that I don’t need to understand everything or figure it all out.  I rest in the sweet space where God is my Great Comforter.  And He’s yours, too.  Can you feel how very loved you are?  He’s yours, too.

So I give thanks, for I am grateful to be comforted.  I am grateful to give up the struggle and allow God to lead me.  I give up the heartache and gladly surrender my sorrows to the One Great Comforter.  I am thankful He is here.  He was always here.  Where else would He go?  There is Only Spirit and I live in Its Bosom.  So I give thanks, knowing I will never be forsaken.  I give thanks for this space of comfort.  I give thanks.  I give thanks.

Then I let it go.  I have nothing to do but accept God’s comfort.  I have nothing to do but choose to re-enter the holy place where there is only love.  I let go of any impulse to try to do it all myself.  I rest in the arms of the Great Comforter and let peace settle into my heart.  And So It Is.  Amen.

What We Believe

What We Teach

We teach the Science of Mind, which is the study of Life and the nature of the laws of thought; the idea that we live in a Spiritual Universe; that God or Spirit is in, through, around us; and that this Presence is a loving source of all Good.

Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Living

VISION Connecting Community Through Spirit!

MISSION We recognize that an inherent desire in every individual is to realize the person God intended us to be. As we realize our true God selves, the greatest gift we can give another is to support him or her in becoming that God person too.

Most important, every man, woman and child who lives in the Universe is significant to the Creator. Our doors will forever be open to all…
