Living Life to Its Fullest

Rev. Martha Quintana, Senior Minister

Rev. Martha Quintana, Senior Minister

Ernest Holmes reminds us, “The good things of life for which we seek are but echoes of the true self knocking at the door of consciousness.” In essence, when we seek “good things” without including the Spirit, we find an empty room. Spirit is where home is contained. Join Rev. Martha as we move into the holidays, Spirit, and Home. (Read: The Art of Life, Chapter 9.)

Susan Clark, Music Director

Susan Clark is joined by

Rev Bonny Allen Rice – Minister

Rev Bonny Allen Rice has been a Religious Science minister since 1983. Her first ministry was assistant to Rev. Dr. Homer Johnson at the June Cobb church in South Central Los Angeles. In 1985 she founded the Genesis Center in Westwood, California. While doing volunteer chaplaincy at UCLA Medical Center she was awarded a scholarship to train as a hospital chaplain and took a years training in Clinical Pastoral Education (4 Units). Bonny was at UCLA for two years. She was ordained from the work at UCLA, which changed the way we do ordination to include what we now call Special Focus Ministries. After UCLA Bonny became the Director of Pastoral Care at Long Beach Community Hospital. Three years later due to lack of funding, the department was closed and she was laid off. In 1994 Bonny became Regional Youth Director for District One. With the restructuring of the youth program, her position became a volunteer position. At that time Bonny went back to working at the World Ministry of Prayer where she began in 1980. She remained there until the end of 1985. She then worked for them again from 1995-1998. In 1998 Bonny and Rev. Carol Sheffield were awarded the International Communicator Award of Distinction for Voices from the World Ministry of Prayer. This was a audio tape featuring the Practitioners and Rev. Carol in prayer and meditation. During the next two years she worked for them as a distance practitioner.

Bonny has taught Pastoral Care and Religions in America at the Ernest Holmes Colleges in LA, Huntington Beach and Denver. She has been guest educator at Church of the Nazarene Seminary, Metropolitan Community Church Seminary, University Lutheran Chapel, University of Oriental Studies, and The Zen Center of Los Angeles.

She has been a guest speaker and done work shops in many Churches and Temples of all denominations.

Bonny has served on the first clergy council for APLA, Forest Lawn Clergy Council, Community Action Committee, Long Beach, Long Beach Ministerial Association as President for two years. She also began the Interfaith Women in Ministry group with Rev. Carol Blivens, Chaplain at the Good Samaritan Retirement Complex. For the last ten years she has been involved in the Ministerial Association of Las Cruces.

Bonny has served Religious Science as United Clergy of Religious Science Cabinet member, written for the Science of Mind Magazine and been on the International Board Ad Hoc Committee developing “Special Portfolio Ministries.”

After living in the Los Angeles area for 48 years Bonny moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico to become the senior minister at The Mastery in Life Center of Religious Science. Her service to the community was as back-up Chaplain for Mesilla Valley Hospice. After 4 years serving at the Mastery in Life Center Bonny resigned. After a six month hiatus Bonny joined the staff at Mesilla Valley Hospice where she has worked a 46 hour part time position as Chaplain, for 12 years.

Recently Bonny moved to The Albuquerque area where she joined the Rio Grande Center for Spiritual Living.
