Ringing in the New Year: Prayer for Release of Resistance
Nancy Bowers, RScP
“Love waits on welcome, not on time, and the real world is but your welcome of what always was. Therefore the call of joy is in it, and your glad response is your awakening to what you have not lost. T-13. VII. 9: 7– 8” – A Course in Miracles
Sometimes I listen to my ego instead of the Holy Spirit, and when I do this, I feel resistance. It keeps me from becoming the person God intended for me to become; it keeps me from being my best self. So, as I welcome in this New Year, I remember that God was and is always present. I am always guided. I need only ask.
Our Heavenly Father is Pure Love, Free-Flowing, Unadulterated Love: Only Goodness; Only Joy; Only Peace. His Heaven is Ever-Present. Her Gladness is the Holy call to Bliss. Generosity is Jehovah’s nature. Soothing is what It does. God is smooth and encumbrance-free. He is Certain, knowing that His children are His eternally, and being forever His are loved, loved, loved, no matter what.
And so this day, I embrace the awareness that I and the Father are one. I am like Him. I bathe in the beauty of it, knowing my place in Heaven is assured. I drink in the goodness of Spirit, knowing that I can never be separated from the Divine, knowing that as He is, I am. I am, and that awareness fills my soul and welcomes love in. You are, and I invite you allow that awareness to fill you with its sweetness.
Therefore, I affirm and declare that I am forever led by Spirit. I let go of any and all resistance to listening to the Holy Spirit. I ignore the ego’s impulse to cower is fear, to keep me from stepping into my glory and I allow Spirit to lead me into the best version of myself. I teach love always, for that is who and what I am. I give generously knowing that, as it says in A Course in Miracles, “to have, give all to all.” I trust. I have faith. I live and breathe and have my being in certainty. I know I am always cared for. I know God’s will for me is my will; that sacrifice is never asked of me. And just as I know this is true of me, I know this is true of you.
So in this New Year, I claim for you your best life. I claim for you a mind that listens to Spirit and guides you into becoming your some glorious, amazing self. I affirm for you all that your heart desires, the willingness to do what it takes, the wisdom to know when to let go and the faith to allow yourself to be swept into greatness. I claim for you your best life ever; a wild ride into high adventure awaits you and I know that you are ready.
So I give thanks, for 2016 is your year, it is my year – it is the year we heed the call of Spirit and become all that we were meant to be. I am grateful to take this ride; grateful that I know there is nothing to fear; grateful that I know how to listen. We cannot lose our way; for God leads us, and I for one am eternally grateful for that; grateful to awaken to the joy I never lost. Aren’t you? Can’t you feel the excitement of it?
So I release this prayer. My resistance is gone. God’s got it covered and there is nothing more to do but relax and enjoy the ride. And So It Is. Amen.
