The Faith of a Mustard Seed
by Marilyn O’Leary, RScP

When I was a girl, the mustard seed necklace was a fad. We all wore the little clear ball that encased a small seed around our necks on a fine chain. It was a reminder of the passage in the bible where Jesus told his followers that if they had the faith of a mustard seed, they could move mountains. It’s also seen by others as a good luck charm. I was thinking of that symbol this morning when I prayed about a problem, affirming the solution in spirit. I was reminded of how important it is to let go of the problem, stop being involved or engaged in it, and have faith that my prayer is answered. When a prayer is affirmed, when the seed is planted, we don’t second guess it, or dig up the seed to see if it is growing. We plant it and know that it is so. This is a prayer to release an issue that’s been seen as a “problem” and to know, see, and believe that it is resolved and that our prayer is answered.
Knowing that God is all there is, that all the goodness of the world emanates from the One Source, that the answer to any prayer, need, problem, is found in Source, and seeing the goodness and the rightness in things just as they are, and knowing that I am One with Source, I also know that Spirit expresses in me, through me, as me. If I ask Spirit-in-me for a solution, my job is to affirm it in faith, even the faith of a mustard seed, to stand back, to know it is so, and to let go.
Spirit is the Alpha and Omega, the Source of all good. Spirit is energy, growth, assistance, help, blessings. Spirit is ease, joy, delight, and expression. Spirit is abundance in all ways. Spirit is Peace.
Knowing that Spirit wants only the best for me and for all, and that It answers every prayer, I affirm that Spirit sends exactly the right people to assist me and partner with me in every endeavor. I affirm that wherever treasure, talent, and time are needed, the need is filled. I affirm that all people who contribute to their god-filled endeavor are nourished and blessed. I declare that all of my work and the expression of my talent and myself is accomplished easily and effortlessly. I affirm that my work flourishes and grows as Spirit intends and in a way that it serves the world. I bless all who work with me and I am grateful for them.
I declare that this prayer is true for any who read it and who want support and assistance in their work.
I release my prayer in faith, knowing that if I have the faith of a mustard seed it will grow into a beautiful bush, that all I have to do is believe, let go, and let Spirit guide. I watch my words come to fruition knowing that all I that I affirm is so. And so it is.
