The Indwelling Christ

“Every brother you meet becomes a witness for Christ or for the ego, depending on what you perceive in him. ²Everyone convinces you of what you want to perceive, and of the reality of the kingdom you have chosen for your vigilance. ³Everything you perceive is a witness to the thought system you want to be true. ⁴Every brother has the power to release you, if you choose to be free. ⁵You cannot accept false witness of him unless you have evoked false witnesses against him. ⁶If he speaks not of Christ to you, you spoke not of Christ to him. ⁷You hear but your own voice, and if Christ speaks through you, you will hear Him.” (ACIM, T-11.V.18:1-7)

God is ubiquitous. Inside each and every person is Christ, whether you like them or not. They don’t have to have taken Jesus as their savior; they don’t have to be Christian.  The indwelling Christ is the divine expression that God placed in everyone.  That essence is Love. That essence is Peace.  It is Joy.  It is Goodness.  It is the Life Force – our true selves.

Knowing that is the truth of who I am and the truth of who you are – the truth of each and every being that exists, I affirm recognition of that Indwelling Christ.  I call forth Christ’s vision.  I affirm that each of us looks past the fear, the anger, the disillusionment, and ego’s need to control to see as Christ sees: with pure unadulterated Love.  We are that Love.  We are that Peace.  We are the Joy of Christ and I affirm that our hearts rest in that space of knowing.

Looking past bad behavior, I see the trembling soul that has forgotten who they are.  I see that everything that is not love is a call for love, whether or not the person recognizes this themselves.  I call upon the Holy Spirit to awaken Christ’s vision in me.  I ask, “What would you have me do?” and then I listen without judgment.  I affirm Unity.  I affirm Love.  I affirm connection, even amid the seeming differences.

I am grateful that God is so clever that He placed within us the only solution we ever need: the indwelling Christ/the Holy Spirit.  How good it is to embrace that truth!  I give thanks, for I know that anytime I have allowing life to disturb my peace, I have forgotten what God is in everyone.  I don’t have to like whatever is happening, but when I surrender to that indwelling Christ, I find my way back to peace.  It’s a heartbeat away – mine the moment I give up trying to control and allow the Holy Spirit to guide me back to Heaven.

And so it is.  Amen.
