The Journey of Becoming

The Journey of Becoming
by Rev. Karen Linsley, M.A., Interim Minister

I am contemplating the journey right now.  This month’s Global Vision theme is The Journey of Becoming and what a journey it has been lately!  I believe we all have experienced some changes in this journey.  And some of those changes have come in the form of losses.  As we move through this journey, it helps to remember that we are in the midst of becoming.  Because what are the journeys for if we do not become something different, something more powerful, something more beautiful?  What are the journeys for if we do not come out the other end feeling more connected and more at peace?  This morning I read, in one of my daily readings, this quote by Tama Kieves:  “without familiar crutches, we find our wings.”  And so that is the foundation for my treatment today.

I go within and connect.  I feel that Presence.  I know that Power.  I am intimate with that One thing.  It is a part of me and I am a part of It.

From this place of oneness I speak my word now for a journey filled with peace in the face of disharmony, for love in the place of hate, for compassion in the place of judgment and for a knowingness that any journey taken simply means letting go of crutches to allow for wings so that I fly.  I soar high!  I am clear in my vision, I move through life knowing I am for something and against nothing, and I joyously receive the gifts of my journey.

I release with gratitude, knowing that it is done.

And so it is!
