Surrendering to Life

Surrendering to Life
by Nancy R Bowers. RScP

Acknowledge the fact of a thing and you will find peace in that plain act. And the fact of a thing includes your response to it. Surrender to the fact of being afraid. Surender to whatever is, in the moment. Stand in the full reality of being angry, or lonely. Do not resist it. Stand with both feet on the fact of what is bringing you pain, frustration, weariness, fear, anger, jealousy, confusion, stress. Accept it, all your weight fully gathered in recognition of it, and the trapdoor swings because of your wiliness to be fully present in the fact of this moment, inner and outer whatever it holds…. To the extent you resist accepting the present reality, you deny yourself access to peace.  ~Jan Frazier, When Fear Fall Away

Let all things be exactly as they are. (ACIM, W-268)

God is Peace. Ubiquitous. Ineffable. Vast. The expression of beingness dancing through life in myriad forms, but whose essence is unchanging, a forever stillness wrapped in the certainty of perfect Love. God is the Awareness of Life Force – an embrace of pure Acceptance. Playful. Joyous. It delights in the Vitality of Spirit in, through, and around this now moment. It is Innocence birthed in the curiosity of discovery when preconceived ideas are absent. It is the Oneness that remains when all notions of opposition fall away.

I breathe into this awareness. surrender to it with complete abandon. I am past the point of needing intellectual assuaging. The infinite is beyond my comprehension.  I know only that free of ego’s resistance, Presence arises. When I let go of ideas that anything should be other than it is, I arrive at acceptance. I discover the Peace that always ran below the mind’s chatter. I delight in the serenity that greets me when opposition acquiesces. I let myself feel whatever emotion begs for acceptance. I let go of judging it and simply allow it to be as it is.  Messy. Human. Frequently erroneous. I do not know what anything is for, so I might as well search for the blessing. I maintain that the Universe is conspiring in my favor, so I am certain of its reality.

I give thanks for that. I am grateful to remember that Love is always the underbelly of beinginess. I am grateful to know that beneath the seeming chaos, Peace is forever present. I give thanks that the illusions of madmen cannot erase the Stillness of Spirit. What a relief!

So, I surrender to Divine Intelligence. I surrender to God’s Will, knowing it contains a much happier life than ego could ever craft. I let go of trying to control any of it and give it to God.

I let God lead the way. And so it is. Amen.
