Reconnecting with Wonder
by Rev. Kamatara Johnson, Director of Collaborative Ministries
With these words, I take a deep breath. I raise my awareness of the Presence of the Divine. I drop into my heart space and open up to the sacred nature of this moment, this breath, this life. I am, you are, the place where the Divine is expressing; there is no separation, only One Heart, one Mind, One Love.
So I recognize the Divine in me and the Divine in you with wonder and gratitude. At a time when things may feeling overwhelming and I may be numbing myself to not feel or see anything, I stop right now in this moment to breath deeply, pull my head up, and look around at all the wonders of this life. I wonder at the sunrise, the birds chirping, the tomatoes growing in my garden, the hot air balloons over my house, my cats chasing each other, the coffee brewing in the kitchen, the roof over my head, all my fingers and toes and muscles and hairs on my body…Be aware of all that is surrounding you right now in its vast array of details. I let that awe and wonder wash over me and smile. I open myself to experience life in all its expressions and richness. I am at peace and in awe.
I am so grateful to reconnect with my senses and what’s around me, to engage again and appreciate the so-very-much-ness of this beautiful thing called life. I give thanks for it all and savor this feeling of wonder and goodness.
With joy reborn in my heart, I let this prayer going, knowing that all is well in my life as I am abundantly filled with wonder and peace. And so it is.
