As They Are
by Nancy R Bowers, RScP

“Let all things be exactly as they are.” ~Lesson 268, A Course in Miracles
“Nothing outside you can ever give you what you’re looking for.” ~Katie, Byron. Question Your Thinking, Change the World (p. 1). Hay House. Kindle Edition.
“As you begin to see that everything you’re waiting, working, or hoping for in the future is already here now, within you, it challenges and changes the way you think, feel, and act in virtually every area of your life. You begin to break your dependence on external conditions and rely more on inner ones that you have control over. You move from getting things to fill yourself up to letting more of your infinite Self out. You stop trying to make it happen and instead make it welcome by developing a deeper connection to this inner seed of potential and cultivating the soil of your soul for new growth.” ~Rydall, Derek. Emergence: Seven Steps for Radical Life Change (p. 5). Atria Books/Beyond Words. Kindle Edition.
I’ve come to recognize that I have been making my life so much more challenging than it needs to be. Every time I resist what is, I notice that my brain wants to make up a story to explain why it “should be different.” I waste energy opposing reality, as if complaining or thinking there is something wrong will somehow help. But as I finally allow myself to go with the flow and trust that the universe is indeed conspiring in my favor, I slip into the place of appreciation. I can breathe. I’ve come to appreciate that not having the bandwidth to rail against what is carries with it the bonus of more easily accepting. “Let all things be exactly as they are,” is my hourly mantra. “Let all things be exactly as they are.”
God is. I am. I am part of the omnipresence. As Derek Rydall reminds me, “There can be no separate self – no subject/object relationship in an omnipresence.” I am not separate from the Divine. I am part of it. My true self already knows what it needs/wants/is. My only job, the way to make life easier and more pleasant rather than unnecessarily challenging, is simply to tap into what I already am. To trust that the Divine within already knows, and then to allow myself to be surprised and delighted as I discover what it is I came to offer the world.
Prayer:
God is. God is in, through, and around me. It is the only thing happening. It is the Essence of all life and Its heartbeat is Love. Its Truth is Peace. Its Reality is Joy. It is and enjoys being. It knows what It is and revels in Its Isness.
I pause to embrace that knowing. I recognize that I came here for a purpose and that purpose is already in me. There is nothing I need to figure out. There is nothing I need to fix. I don’t even need to name that purpose. I don’t even need to define it. My limited perception can’t compete with God’s Vision, so why try limit the Infinite? I need only align myself with the Love within me that is bursting to express. Let me soak that in.
This is where I play. This is where Freedom grabs my hand spins me out on the dance floor. “Come move with me,” it exclaims. I affirm Its Ease. I allow myself to be swept up by it. Nothing to judge, nothing to muscle through – just a sweet, organic unfolding of True Essence. The blueprint to happiness is already contained within. It IS the Beingness. It is the Freedom. It is the place of allowing what is to just be and let myself experience the Beingness unencumbered by opposing thoughts. Here I enter the realm of deep appreciation. Here, I am brimming with gratitude.
Let me savor it. “Let all things be exactly as they are.”
And so it is. Amen.
