Honoring the Ancestors

Honoring the Ancestors
by Nancy Bowers, RScP

Today, I pause, for the veil is thin.
I breathe in remembrance.
I feel the quiet stir of Día de los Muertos within my soul. I remember the ancestors.
I remember they walk with me, still.
Death cannot part. Death cannot remove the love,
for it was only ever the Love that was real.

I honor those who walked before me—
souls who met life with joy and sorrow,
with courage and grace.
They tended the soil of my becoming.
They dreamed me into being.

Though they may have never met me in this lifetime,
their love carried me here.
Their strength lives in my bones.
Their prayers whisper through my heart.
They have been guiding me.

Sometimes I remember to listen.

All has unfolded in Divine Right Order, for it always was and forever shall be.

The marigold’s fragrance fills the air—
sweet with life, rich with earth.
It reminds me where I come from,
and to what I will one day return.

In deep gratitude, I bow to my ancestors.
I breathe their wisdom.
I carry their light. In the quiet, my attentiveness expands.
I drink in the Oneness of Being.
Namaste. Thank you for your eternal presence.

With awareness in my mind,
conviction in my heart,
and joy in my soul,
I release this gratitude into the Universe. I breathe in the blessings of ancestral presence.
I breathe out peace.
And so it is. Amen.
